At Nuro, we’re building a future where autonomous vehicles make life safer, more efficient, and more accessible. We’re excited to share a major milestone in our journey: autonomous vehicle testing is now underway on the Las Vegas Strip and surrounding roads—a singular environment that gives us a unique opportunity to advance our technology.

A City We Know Well

Las Vegas isn’t new territory for Nuro—it’s a community we’ve proudly been a part of since 2021, when we opened our closed-course autonomous vehicle testing facility. That facility has been instrumental in developing and validating our AV systems in a controlled environment. Now, we’re expanding our presence by moving onto public roads.

Scaling Responsibly

We believe that responsible progress starts with understanding. That’s why our operations start with a dedicated data collection phase, where vehicles are manually operated on public roads with trained safety operators behind the wheel. This approach allows us to build a detailed understanding of the local environment and test our systems against real-world scenarios well before autonomy is ever engaged.

This measured approach allows us to scale operations responsibly while maintaining our core commitment: delivering autonomous mobility that’s safe, transparent, and built to serve the public.

Why Las Vegas — and Why Now

We’re expanding into Las Vegas because we believe it is a community where self-driving technology can deliver real benefits. With its scale, dynamic traffic environment, and openness to innovation, Las Vegas is well-positioned to support the responsible introduction of autonomous services.

The Strip is more than just iconic—it’s a densely traveled corridor with consistent demand, 24/7 activity, and a mix of use cases that make it a natural fit for self-driving services. From high foot traffic and hospitality zones to busy commercial areas, it reflects the kind of environment where autonomous vehicles can offer real value—moving people and goods reliably, efficiently, and safely.

Our presence in Las Vegas is not about launching our own operations, but about laying the groundwork for future deployments by customers—both current and prospective—licensing our Nuro Driver™ self-driving system. Establishing this foundation improves the Nuro Driver and ensures everything is in place—insights, infrastructure, and community engagement—when partners are ready to launch in the coming years.

Supporting Nevada’s Vision, Benefiting Communities

Nevada has long been a leader in autonomous vehicle development. From being the first state to explicitly authorize autonomous vehicle operations to actively encouraging innovation through public-private partnerships, Nevada has positioned itself as a hub for innovative transportation solutions.

Our goal isn’t just to bring autonomy to Las Vegas—it’s to partner with the community to deliver smarter and safer mobility. Our presence in Las Vegas means local jobs, ongoing community partnerships, and collaboration with state and regional stakeholders to ensure autonomous technology benefits everyone. We’re committed to growing with Southern Nevada.

More to Come

Las Vegas represents an exciting step forward, but it’s just the beginning. We’ll soon be launching on-road testing in more cities, each chosen to align with our mission of safely and thoughtfully scaling autonomous technology.

Stay tuned for more updates from Nuro as we continue this journey.
