Autonomy Built for a Better Tomorrow

At Nuro, we believe autonomy can unlock wide-reaching benefits, both in the near term and decades from now. We envision a world where autonomous vehicles make streets safer, give people more time for what matters, and increase access to the world around us.

Autonomous vehicles are real and ready for public roads today. They will also continue to mature and evolve as tomorrow’s engineers, designers, and policymakers build on the work we do now.

That’s why we’re proud to partner with K-12 schools and universities to give students the opportunity to explore technology that is changing the world, up close.

Above, students from Notre Dame High School (San Jose, California), Los Altos High School (Los Altos, California), and Theuerkauf Elementary (Mountain View, California) learn from Nuro employees and engage with self-driving vehicles at Nuro’s office in Mountain View, California.

Opening New Doors

Innovation drives progress, and early exposure to innovation helps students see what’s possible in their own lives and communities. When young people witness emerging technologies firsthand, it sparks creativity, critical thinking, and a growth mindset. It empowers them to ask big questions, explore new ideas, and imagine themselves contributing to tomorrow’s breakthroughs—whether in artificial intelligence, mobility, or beyond. Early exposure to how science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) shape the world around them can transform curiosity into passion, and passion into purpose.

Through hands-on demos, conversations with our team, and tours of our space, students get an inside look at how self-driving vehicle technology is developed. These experiences go beyond traditional field trips; they foster trust and transparency. By welcoming students, educators, and families into our workspaces, we aim to demystify self-driving technology and highlight the role of safety, AI, and thoughtful design in every decision we make. When students see the technology in action and meet the people behind it, they gain insight and confidence in the future we’re building and the responsible approach we’re taking.

3rd grade students from Theuerkauf Elementary (Mountain View, California) talk about self-driving technology with Nuro employees at Nuro’s office in Mountain View, California.

These programs don’t just benefit students; they’re also deeply rewarding for our employees. Engaging with curious young minds rekindles the sense of purpose that drives so much of our work. It reminds us why we build: to make communities safer, smarter, and more connected. It fosters a sense of pride and shared mission, and helps our teams stay grounded in the real-world impact of the technology we’re developing.

By introducing young people to careers they may never have imagined, we’re investing in a future workforce that’s more diverse, skilled, and inspired. Whether it’s a fifth grader fascinated by robotics or a high schooler dreaming of designing safer streets, we hope these experiences open new doors to opportunities, understanding, and a smarter, more connected world.
